We believe that the aspects that make for great design lie in a working collaboration between a building designer and a client. This involves an approach incorporating design principles of proportion, site topography, orientation, material choice, sustainability, and budget considerations. This is where our building design process begins. It’s also where our building design process ends.
Beyond collaboration with the client, our building design, drafting, and administration process is dedicated to providing a friendly, professional, and personal approach to all projects. We don’t design in isolation. Each and every project always involves all parties working together: the client, the building designer, consultants, and builders.
The preliminary stage is where the initial concepts of the project are first found. Through an initial consultation with the client, our goal is to understand the vision of the project and its aspirations. During this stage, beyond simple briefing, we conduct site inspections, and authority checks. This is also where project budgets are discussed and broad plans are created.
From there, a conceptual design is created. This is a sketch of the design that’s presented to the client for consideration. This is an important first step before jumping into the more detailed design of the project.
With the initial sketch designs approved, we develop a client’s design into a detailed concept. With the aid of computer-generated floorplans, elevations, site planning, and 3D perspectives, the client is able to get a full appreciation of what the final project will look like before the builders start.
This part of the design project is often the most exciting, but also a great opportunity for feedback as the client can see exactly what their finished residence will look like.
As building designers, we can also help clients with all permits and documentation for the project. This includes submitting architectural drawings that show the site plan, floor plans, elevations, overshadowing, earthworks, and area analysis that are required for town planning permissions.
Our building design services also include all the technical data needed to obtain relevant building permits. The designs are also created in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and applicable building requirements. If needed, our building designs also include bushfire reports, geotechnical testing, engineering, and more.
